NICE Issue Multiple Pregnancy Guidelines


Tamba has been campaigning for many years to achieve consistent and appropriate standards care for women expecting twins and higher order multiples.  I am delighted to be able to tell you that NICE (The National Institute for Clinical Excellence) has now published Multiple pregnancy: the management of twin and triplet pregnancies in the antenatal period, Guidelines that will apply to all clinical teams responsible for the care of women expecting twins or more.

Both NICE and Tamba will be undertaking considerable work to ensure that professionals and units implement the Guidelines, including a programme of visits to every clinical team by the NICE Implementation Team.

These Guidelines are a landmark in the ante-natal care of women expecting multiples, and we will be monitoring to ensure that where care is substandard, pressure is brought to bear to achieve improvements so that everyone gets the care they need and deserve.

Tamba is also working with NICE to promote the Guidelines in the media, to increase awareness amongst professionals and families of what the Guidelines mean for care in future.
