Home-Start is a voluntary organisation with around 300 local schemes, offering support, friendship and practical assistance to parents with at least one child under five, who are experiencing difficulties. Home-Start volunteers visit families in their own homes. Families are referred by social workers, health visitors, GPs, and families themselves.
